What does this delay mean?

What you call this season will define this season! Is the dream delayed…you need to hear this!

Are in a period of delay right now?

You may have been there for a long time in the period between when you conceived the idea, the dream the goal and actually being able to deliver on it; to see it become a reality.

If you’re in that period the delay then let me encourage you because it’s very easy to become discouraged. The delay can breed uncertainty and the unknown can lead to doubt.

It can be so easy to draw conclusions that ‘this is just never going to happen’, ‘it will never become a reality’. If we stay agree with this conclusion then it can lead us exiting prematurely.

Let’s face it, sometimes the pain of delay can be so great that the immediate thought of relieving that pain by exiting convinces us that the sense of immediate relief would be for the best.

The biblical proverb says

…hope deferred makes the heart sick…

…and when we are in that deferred period and we don't believe that it's ever going to end it can lead to a sense of sickness both in terms of our thought life, our emotional life and and possibly even our physical life.

If you relate then I want to encourage you I want you to know that this is your period of development and this is necessary.

One of the thoughts and questions that I’ve encouraged myself to ask is what advice would my 90 year old self give to me right now.

I'm pretty sure that the 90 year old Gareth and the 90 year old you would say keep believing don't give up breakthrough isn't far away.

It is human nature to take the emotion of this moment and project it against the backdrop of our future believing that this sums up my existence. We can believe that this is the way it's always going to be.

YOU ARE WRONG…

IF you remain committed, if you remain determined, remain resolute.

It is time to rename this season.

This is the season of development not deferment.

Deferment speaks of it being pointless, lacking purpose. Delay can feel purpose less but we have to attach purpose to it. Purpose is meaning and we get to determine what something means in our lives so let me encourage you let's make this a purposeful time this is your period of necessary development and you're going to be grateful for this period in years to come so KEEP GOING because YOU ARE GROWING!
